The Lawyer's Father
Set in two the most divided time of recent American history, The Lawyer's Father is a play about how (and if) family can survive in an ever-polarizing political world.
Received 2 staged readings at Illinois State University in 2018
"...Elegiac and deeply sad yet full of passion and a reserved Midwestern stoicism, about family and the torment that's born when flawed men try and live through their sons. Memorable and intriguing." - Mark Mason, Artistic Director, Joliet Drama Guild
Sink
In a seedy apartment in Joliet, IL, Roy visits his son Evan, recently released from prison after committing a violent crime. Desperate to understand his son, Roy agrees to open up to Evan about the realities of the world, the effects of his actions, and the truth behind a tragic incident from his youth. A play about fatherhood, injury, and the drive to prepare your children for the world.
World Premiere planned for April 2020 at Illinois State University (cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic).
"...emotionally shattering... Kulak's dialogue flows naturally, beautifully specific to character, and builds the story to its intensely horrifying climax with ease." - Doug DeVita, Playwright
Other, currently unproduced plays include Get-Together, Facsimile, and Rebound.
